The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society (AzQAC) with a glorious history of more than 100 years is the largest humanitarian organization in the Republic whose role is defined by state law. The society is the only, full and equal member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is the largest humanitarian organization in the world. The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, together with the world's largest humanitarian network, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), provides support and humanitarian services to millions of vulnerable people in Azerbaijan and around the world. Employees and volunteers of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society always act before emergency situations and help communities to prepare for emergency situations through educational measures carried out in order to reduce risks. The employees and volunteers of the society continue to support the affected people in rebuilding and reviving their lives. The National Society provides humanitarian assistance to people without any discrimination based on nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinion.

2022
From November 1, 2021, a market research was conducted for the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society by an international company with the support of the Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. As a result of that study, the creation of the "YARDIM.ET" Donations Willing System was started on February 1, 2022.
2020
During the Second Karabakh War, the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society continued its humanitarian mission, along with other state institutions, provided humanitarian aid to the affected civilians and conducted extensive awareness-raising about mines. In addition, with the support of the Turkish Red Crescent, tons of food, clothing, medical and other supplies were distributed to the needy.
2019
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the employees and volunteers of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society provided humanitarian assistance in an enhanced mode to the needy, especially the elderly and sick, as well as families with a difficult financial situation and low income. Food and hygiene products were delivered to them on a daily basis. The needy have been cared for throughout the pandemic by holding fundraising events and also involving large corporate companies.
2007
Honorary member of the Red Crescent Society, honorable President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, on the legislative initiative of the draft law "On the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society" was presented to the Parliament for discussion. In the Milli Majlis, the draft law was discussed in all 3 readings, it was adopted by the Parliament on May 8, 2007, taking into account additions and changes, and it entered into force with the Decree of the head of state dated May 22, 2007.
2003
The "Golden Crescent" medal was established for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the development of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society. First, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honorary Member of the Red Crescent Society, was awarded this medal.
1994
Thanks to the attention of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Heydar Aliyev, according to the decision of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 926 dated November 25, 1994 "On improving the work of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society", the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was officially recognized by the state and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement in the republic was declared the only official national society operating as a component.
1991
On November 5, 1991, the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society announced its independent activity and adopted a corresponding decision to withdraw from the Soviet Red Cross and Red Crescent Society, and in the following years, together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Armenian military units continued to provide its humanitarian aid and mission to hundreds of thousands of refugees and internally displaced persons who were subjected to aggression.
1976
During the years 1976-1981, thousands of donors of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society were awarded with an honorary decree, first-third class "Donor of the USSR" and "Honorary Donor of the USSR" badges for their active activity in the field of free blood donation.
1941
Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society had 135,000 members in its ranks at the beginning of 1941. During the Second World War, the Society trained and sent more than 6,500 people to the battlefield for nursing and sanitary rescue activities. Also, thousands of sanitary units and sanitary stations were created by the Society.
1928

The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was officially registered on March 10, 1920 by Lieutenant General Aliyagha Shikhlinski, who was the Deputy Minister of Defense of the First Democratic Republic in the East, and Fatali Khan Khoyski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. On August 15, 1925, the first charter of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was adopted.
1919
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was established due to the need to create voluntary societies for the purpose of helping the wounded, regardless of nationality, religion, or gender, during the war in all countries of the world. Thus three structures generally emerged: the National Society (called Red Cross, Crescent or Crystal depending on the country); International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and International Committee of the Red Cross.
1863
Henri Dunant convened a meeting of the "Committee of Five" on February 17, 1863, together with Gustave Mounier (president of the charitable society in Geneva), Guillaume-Henri Dufour (military general), Louis Appia and Theodore Monoire (physicians) to discuss the Solferino events. carried out. That meeting was named "International Committee for Aid to the Wounded". At that meeting, the red cross on a white background was adopted as the official emblem of the Committee. This emblem has no religious meaning and is used to distinguish and protect medical personnel operating on the battlefield. In the future, this committee was known as the "International Committee of the Red Cross".
1859
It all began on June 24, 1859, in Solferino, located in northern Italy... During the war between French and Italian soldiers against the Austrians, about forty thousand people were wounded and killed on the battlefield in just a few hours... A small number of activities within the armies the medical service provided showed its weakness. A Swiss businessman, Henri Dunant, accidentally saw the pain and suffering of those injured people and appealed to the surrounding civilians to help everyone, regardless of the nationality of the injured.
